ABOUT STEPH

Steph is a filmmaker based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington), Aotearoa New Zealand - originally from Dublin, Ireland.

Steph’s short documentary Humans won Best New Zealand Short at the prestigious Oscar-qualifying DocEdge Film Festival in 2019. Her film Rat Man, co-directed with Belle Gwilliam, featured on RNZ’s Saturday Morning with Kim Hill. Her film Only F**ks Pat Me On The Head, co-directed with Paul Wolffram, was selected for NZIFF’s New Zealand’s Best short film competition and won Best Director and Best Cinematography at NYC Short Documentary Festival in 2021.

More recently, Steph directed and co-produced The Turning Point, a six episode NZ On Air & RNZ funded docu-series that deep dives into the people and communities behind some of Aotearoa’s most exciting conservation projects.
